Celebrity Beyond cabin 7106 is a two-person porthole veranda on Deck 7, forward on the starboard side. The cabin itself has several things I genuinely liked. But after living in it, I would not book this particular cabin again.

The biggest issue: an “unobstructed” cabin with an obstruction

We booked cabin 7106 as an unobstructed cabin. Our booking information showed no obstruction. Once we stepped onto the balcony, however, it was obvious that part of the view was blocked by the ship’s structure.

That distinction matters. I can accept an obstruction when I know about it before booking and the price reflects it. My problem is paying for an unobstructed view and discovering something different after boarding.

Jayson’s verdict:I would not book cabin 7106 again—especially while it is represented as unobstructed. I would consider the same balcony style on a higher deck or farther aft.

What I liked about the cabin

The positives
  • A genuine outdoor balcony instead of an Infinite Veranda
  • A surprisingly spacious bathroom with a glass shower door
  • Three shelves on each side of the bathroom mirror and additional drawer storage
  • Plenty of wardrobes, drawers, cubbies, mirrors, and space beneath the bed for luggage
  • A comfortable bed, made even better by our memory-foam topper
  • Useful outlets and charging options at the desk and on the right side of the bed
  • A compact loveseat and movable desk that made the room practical for two people

The bathroom and storage are genuine strengths

Edge-class bathrooms are among the features I consistently like. The shower in 7106 felt roomy, the glass door was much better than a curtain, and the shelving gave both of us usable space. There is also a drawer beneath the counter and a 110-volt outlet intended for items such as an electric razor or toothbrush.

The cabin had more storage than its size might suggest. Near the entrance were several cubbies, a wardrobe with space for both shorter clothing and longer gowns, three drawers, a safe, and a shelf where we kept our backpacks. The desk side added three more drawers and the refrigerator. All of our luggage fit beneath the bed.

Outlets and charging

At the desk, we had two 110-volt outlets, one European outlet, and two USB-A ports. On the right side of the bed, there was another 110-volt outlet and two USB-A ports. We used our own outlet extenders to add USB-C charging.

The disappointing part was the left side of the bed: no 110-volt outlet and no USB-A or USB-C port. Couples who both charge devices overnight should plan around that imbalance.

Bring modern charging

The built-in USB-A ports work, but a compact, cruise-compliant extender with USB-C makes the setup much more useful.

Watch Sleep Mode

Sleep Mode turns off the lights but also reduces the air conditioning. If the cabin feels warm overnight, make sure Sleep Mode is not active.

Three negatives beyond the obstruction

What would stop me from rebooking
  • Theater bass: The cabin is only two decks above the theater. We could feel bass through the floor during afternoon rehearsals and evening performances.
  • Cigarette smoke: A forward crew area was close enough that we sometimes smelled smoke while using the balcony.
  • Forward movement: Passengers sensitive to motion may notice more movement this far forward than they would midship.

The theater issue surprised me most. It was not simply distant music; the low-frequency bass could be felt in the cabin. That matters if you like afternoon naps, go to bed early, or attend the early show while the late performance continues below.

Small details worth knowing

  • The storage doors close firmly and can be noisy when someone is sleeping.
  • The sofa is a loveseat and does not convert into another bed.
  • We requested a tea kettle, and the cabin attendant kept us supplied with clean cups.
  • Celebrity robes may be available by request if they are not already in the cabin.
  • Magnetic hooks and motion-sensor nightlights worked especially well because the cabin walls are metal.

The short version

Book the cabin style for: a real outdoor balcony, a strong bathroom, comfortable sleeping, and generous storage for two people.

Avoid cabin 7106 for: the unexpected obstruction, possible smoke, theater bass, and its very forward position.

My final answer: I liked the porthole veranda concept, but I would choose another deck or a cabin farther aft next time.
