Princess Plus and Premier Prices Rise October 13; Standalone Wi-Fi Changes Too

Princess has shared an update to its Plus and Premier packages, along with changes to standalone Wi-Fi. Here are the details that matter if you are comparing what to buy for your next sailing.

What does another $5 a day mean?

That is an extra $35 per person on a seven-night sailing, or $70 for two people, if the increase applies to their purchase. The announcement ties the change to the departure date, not just the day someone books a cruise. It does not say that every already-paid package will be repriced, so do not assume your existing purchase is changing. Check your booking confirmation and watch for clarification from Princess.

At the time of this announcement, Princess's public package page still listed pre-cruise prices of $65 per person per day for Plus and $100 for Premier on most ships. On Sun Princess and Star Princess, it listed $70 for Plus and $105 for Premier. Those are the currently displayed prices; Princess's notice announces a $5 increase but does not provide a replacement price chart or spell out how pre-purchased packages are handled.

Princess did not announce a change to the included package benefits in this notice. It also said the crew appreciation included with Plus and Premier continues to go to the crew members providing the service.

What is changing with standalone Wi-Fi?

Beginning October 13, Princess says its separate four-device Wi-Fi purchase will be discontinued. Four devices will remain a Princess Premier benefit. A standalone two-device option will be introduced, and standalone one-device pricing will change:

This Wi-Fi change concerns people buying internet separately. Princess's current package comparison lists Wi-Fi for one device per guest with Plus and four devices per guest with Premier.

What we are still waiting to hear

Princess's notice did not say whether the new prices affect a Plus or Premier package already bought for a departure on or after October 13. It also did not explain what happens to a standalone four-device Wi-Fi plan someone already purchased. I will update this story if Princess clarifies either point.
